Chartered by a group of volunteers led by the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, ADC is a nationally recognized non-profit community development corporation dedicated to building the human, social and physical capital of Harlem. ADC accomplishes this by increasing the availability of quality affordable housing; delivering human services, particularly to the homeless, elderly, families and children; fostering economic revitalization; enhancing educational opportunities for youth; and building community capacity through civic engagement. Its initiatives have added over 1,250 new housing units, 1,000 new jobs, and public schools serving more than 1,000 students in Harlem.

Invoking the name of the major Ethiopian tributary to the great Nile River, Blue Nile Passage is one of the largest and most successful rites-of-passage programs in the country. Its mission is to promote the spiritual, cultural, and moral character development of youth of African descent in the NY tri-state area.

A New York City public school serving students in grades 6-12, the Academy seeks to prepare students and families to meet the challenges of colleges, universities and the twenty-first century work force. This is accomplished via programs incorporating parental involvement, and collaborative efforts with Central Harlem institutions, organizations, and resources.

A New York City public school serving students, K-5, TMALS is a collaboration between the city’s Department of Education, Abyssinian Development Corporation and New Visions for Public Schools. Programs include an extended learning day, and a focus on arts education.

Established in 1940 by Rev. Adam Clayton Powell Jr., the Abyssinian Baptist Church Federal Credit Union (ABCFCU) is a not-for-profit organization that provides various financial products to members in the tri-state area. The ABCFCU is federally chartered and deposits are insured up to $250,000. It is registered as an associational (religious) credit union; membership is open to active members of the Abyssinian Baptist Church, church employees and their families. The credit union is governed by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) and has CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) certification by the United States Treasury Department. The credit union continues to grow its membership with a goal to become a multiple common bond with assets more than $1.1M.

A non-profit organization that utilizes organized sports and educational programs—such as football, basketball, karate, cheerleading, after-school tutoring, and computer training—to improve the physical and intellectual fitness of youth ages 6 to 18 in our community. Our goal is to equip them with essential life and developmental skills, including teamwork, self-confidence, strategic thinking, problem-solving, conflict resolution, discipline, leadership, and goal setting.
