Pastor. Mentor. Truth-teller. Warrior: Abyssinian Baptist Church mourns the passing of our beloved and visionary pastor, the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III, on October 28, 2022.

Mourners at his viewing included US Vice President Kamala Harris. former US President Bill Clinton, US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, US Senator Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and actors Courtney B. Vance and LaTanya Richardson Jackson all spoke at the funeral service on November 4, 2022.
