Women’s Ministry
Spiritual Journey
Assist WM leadership in facilitating the sister-to-sister testimonial service, including participants, printing of program, music, etc. In addition to planning of service, responsible for setup of venue in Vestry, light refreshments provided before service in Fellowship Hall, and published program for service.
Ambassadors
Visit other area churches as representatives of the Abyssinian Women’s Ministry (WM) to exchange and extend Christian fellowship. Work with other WM committees in extending invitations to churches visited.
Black Tie Event
To plan, advertise and execute the plans for the Bicentennial Black Tie event which will take place on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Chelsea Pier.
Family Support
To address issues concerning family life and to facilitate activities which will encourage, strengthen and support families.
Finance
Assist WM leadership with fundraising, collecting and recording all monies from WM sales. Perform other financial tasks that may arise.
Fellowship Brunch
Plan and execute a Spiritual Fellowship event. Include the Unsung Heroines committee. The program should reflect the honoring of 4 new Unsung Heroines from Abyssinian and one from our community.
Prison Exodus Project
Work with the Prison Exodus Project, serving as a mentor to someone recently released from prison.
Publicity
Assist church Communications PR manager and WM leadership with WM events and updates to website and church PR communications. Publicize and promote WM activities, assisting with logos or images on products and written materials, including the printed program for Women’s Day.
Sister Circle
Plan, promote, and implement a time of sharing and fellowship to include ALL women of Abyssinian. The goal is to have long time members interact with newer/younger members to form a bond of sisterhood. Include activities where women learn about each other as well as the church and share with the group. Receptions held at host members’ homes or designated locations to include light refreshments and fellowship activities.
All Female Worship Service
Assist WMCs in facilitating service. Responsible for the logistics for the speaker for evening including: greeting upon arrival, water at pulpit, light snacks in holding room before service and beverages after service. Responsible for notifying appropriate Usher ministry to serve that evening. Work with WMCs to extend invitation to other churches and special guests to attend, WMCs from area churches, female leaders in community, past WMCs, ABC Ministries, etc. Spread word among women at Abyssinian to attend and ask that each person invite a guest.
Revival (3 nights)
Assist WM leadership in facilitating the revival services. Responsible for praise and worship period before each revival service, notifying appropriate usher ministry to serve that evening, extending invitation to special participants, guests and WM from area churches to attend. Spread the word among women at Abyssinian to attend and ask that each person invite a guest.
