Abyssinian Institute for Christian Education
“Faith Seeking Understanding”
“I never asked my audiences to leave their minds outside when they came into church…our world is much too complex for a simple dogma.” – Samuel DeWitt Proctor, The Substance Of Things Hoped For: A Memoir Of African-American Faith
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33
The Abyssinian Institute for Christian Education seeks to empower the witness of The Abyssinian Baptist Church by providing on-going Christian Education that speaks to the complexities of contemporary life. Established in 1998, the mission of The Abyssinian Institute is threefold:
1) To support the walk of faith by encouraging a constant quest for understanding
2) To extend a relevant teaching ministry to Abyssinian members and the community-at-large
3) To seriously engage the relationship between faith and social witness
People of all ages learn best when questions and doubts are explored rather than silenced. The Abyssinian Institute provides its students with the opportunity to engage in spiritual and intellectual inquiry as part of a life-long process of strengthening Christian faith.
All are invited to grow into deeper discipleship through the study of the Old Testament, New Testament, Theology, Church History, and Practical Christian Living.
Mark your calendars now! You are guaranteed to receive a blessing!
