Reverend Nicholas Stuart Richards

The Rev. Nicholas Stuart Richards is blessed to serve Abyssinian as an Assistant Minister as well as President of The Abyssinian Fund, a NGO dedicated to reducing poverty in Ethiopia. Rev. Richards was born in Mandeville, Jamaica; reared in the Bronx, NY; and is the recipient of prestigious fellowships to study and preach on three continents. He is an alumnus of Morehouse College, with the Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy; The University of Cape Town in South Africa where he received a certificate in International Human Rights and The Union Theological Seminary where he completed his theological education earning the Master of Divinity degree.

Prior to serving at Abyssinian, Rev. Richards was an assistant to the Pastor of The West Hunter Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he was licensed to preach the Gospel. He was ordained at The Abyssinian Baptist Church. A gifted preacher, Rev. Richards has been inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr, Board of Preachers at Morehouse College and his sermons are regularly featured in the Sunday Edition of The Huffington Post.

Rev. Richards has appeared in various media outlets including The New York Times, NBC, The Wall Street Journal and The Africa Channel. He is a member the 100 Black Men, The World Economic Forum Global Shapers Program and an active participant in the Aspen Institute.

A self-proclaimed foodie, Rev. Richards loves living in Harlem, NY and keeps thorough list of the neighborhoods best restaurants. Above all, his ministry and energies are committed to realizing Abyssinian’s mission of Winning More Souls For Christ.
