Reverend Nicholas Stuart Richards

Rev. Nicholas Stuart Richards is the Assistant Minister for Global Outreach at The Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, and President of The Abyssinian Fund, a NGO dedicated to reducing poverty in Ethiopia. Rev. Richards was born in Mandeville, Jamaica, and reared in the Bronx, NY. He is an alumnus of Morehouse College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy. He received a certificate in development studies from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Rev. Richards completed his theological education at The Union Theological Seminary earning the Master of Divinity degree. Rev. Richards was licensed to preach at the West Hunter Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia and is deeply engaged in social activism and international development. Additionally, he has received prestigious fellowships to study in several countries including Israel, Palestine, Switzerland and South Africa. Rev. Richards serves under the mentorship of Abyssinian’s Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III. Above all, Rev. Richards is committed to the people of God, within and outside the walls of the church.
